The first step to changing the world begins with correcting misinformation.
Africa is shaped through distorted perspectives.
News outlets, encyclopedias, search engines, and textbooks often portray Africa as a land of famine, war, and poverty.
Global Ubuntu Ambassadors actively identify these distortions and participate as junior diplomats, in requesting correctionsbased on facts.
The first step to changing the world begins with correcting misinformation.
🗂️ Step 1. Identify misinformation
💡 Search for biased or overly simplistic descriptions of Africa in foreign encyclopedias, news articles, textbooks, blogs, and YouTube subtitles.
Example: “Africa is mostly made up of deserts.” “A land of primitive tribes.”
🗂️ Step 2. Fact-check
💡 Use official statistics and credible sources from organizations like the UN, African Union (AU), UNESCO, and the World Bankto gather accurate supporting data. Example: “Africa is a continent of diverse landscapes,
including tropical rainforests, highlands, deserts, and savannas. "
🗂️ Step 3. Write an email to request a correction
💡 Write a respectful and well-reasoned correction report, email, or comment to the relevant website, organization, or publisher. Example: “This statement applies only to specific countries and does not accurately reflect the reality of the entire continent." 반영하지 않습니다”
